1,136,320. Polyvinyl chloride filaments. PRODUITS CHIMIQUES PECHINEY - SAINT - GOBAIN. 27 April, 1967 [27 April, 1966; 3 March, 1967], No. 19385/67. Heading B5B. Fibres, filaments, thin mouldings, strips and ribbons are produced by bringing a vinyl chloride polymer or copolymer composition directly into the molten state, in the absence of solvents, and then extruding the melt using a rotary plate extrusion apparatus in conjunction with conventional spinning or drawing devices. The polyvinyl chloride may be a high or low temperature product or a copolymer of vinyl chloride with vinyl acetate, or vinylidene chloride or acrylic nitrile or propylene or a chlorinated vinyl chloride. There may also be present in the melts, a polymer of olefinic or acrylic ester type e.g. polypropylene or poly- (methyl methaorylate). The products may have regular cross-sections of trilobate, elliptical, triangular or rectangular shape. |
