[Also in Divisions B5 and H1] A rotatable electrode, e.g. a cylindrical roller, in an apparatus for glow discharge treatment of plastic film to improve the anchorage characteristics of the surface to materials such as printing ink or adhesive has a coating of a baked phenolformaldehyde resin which is free from water and soluble in lacquer systems or organic solvents. The coating may contain 45 per cent by weight of an inert, finely divided, non-fibrous, inorganic, suspendable pigment or filler, and preferably comprises from 20 to 50 layers, each 1 mil. thick. Voltages up to 25,000 or more may be employed, preferred voltages being from 2,000 to 20,000 at frequencies up to 500 kc./sec. |
