PURPOSE:To switch optical fibers at a high speed by forming a small-sized, simple structure which mutually couples and switches the optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:One-end sides of the optical fibers 3 are fixed to a fixed-side element 2 and a moving-side element 1 respectively at a constant interval, and the optical fibers 3 are optically coupled by setting one-end-surface sides of the elements 1 and 2 opposite each other; and the moving-side element 1 is displaced by a driving mechanism (electromagnet) 10 to switch the propagation of light. This changeover switch is provided with a rectangular pipe 7 where the other-end-surface sides of the fixed-side element 2 and moving-side element 1 are fixed to a couple of opposite sides and the driving mechanism 10 is arranged at the position where the rectangular pipe 7 is deformed and the moving-side element 1 is displaced. The optical fibers are securely switched with good reproducibility and there is no fatigue even when the optical fibers are repeatedly switched. |
