Process and apparatus for simultaneous treatment of a plurality of melt-spun, unoriented polyester yarns, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate and copolymers of this with minor amounts of other glycol polyesters including dye receptive components, whereby a yarn warp, preferably having at least 30 multifilament yarns, is drawn at a tension of 0.4-0.6 g/deniers (calculated on the undrawn yarn), with a draw ratio of at least 5.5. up to the maximum at break and preferably 6.0-7.0 and thereafter heat-set by passing the warp yarns over a series of surfaces moving at substantially the same speed as the yarn and heated to 120-160 deg.C in such a way that stretching of the yarn during heat-setting is limited to a maximum of 10% and is preferably less than 5% of the drawn length. After heat-setting, the yarns are wound separately on a warp beam or on individual bobbins at a speed of 15-91.5 m/min and preferably 36-61 m/min. |
