Foamed articles are produced by foaming a synthetic rubber dispersion followed by gelling, vulcanization, washing and drying the foamed articles obtained, prior to vulcanization 0À1- 0À4% by wt. (referred to the rubber solids) of the sodium salt of a carboxymethylated cellulose, having an average of 0À65-2 ether groups per glucose unit, being added to the dispersion or foam produced and 0À75-2À5% of sodium silico-fluoride being added as gelling agent to the foam obtained corresponding to a gelling time of 10-30 minutes at 20‹ C. The synthetic rubber dispersion may be an aqueous dispersion of a butadiene and/or isoprene copolymer, optionally with styrene or containing polystyrene. The vulcanizing agent may be a mixture of sulphur, diphenylguanidine, zinc diethyldithiocarbamate, zinc - 2 - mercaptobenzothiazole, 2,2 - methylene - bis - (methyl - 6- tert. butylphenol), zinc oxide, bentonite and sodium alkylated naphthalene sulphonate.</p> |
