1,176,384. Sound film editing machines. G. PESCIARELLI. 24 Feb., 1967 [25 Feb., 1966], No. 8940/67. Heading G5R. The scanning drum of a sound film editing and cutting machine is mounted on a platform movable between an upper, working position and a lower, retracted position through an opening in a working plane of the machine. As shown, rollers 2, 3 for 35 mm. and 16 mm. film respectively and a correspondingly adjustable drum 1 are mounted on a platform 6 slidable on rods 17, apertures 9, 11 in the working surface 13 receiving flanges 37, 39 atop the rollers to limit their retraction. The rollers 2, 3 are attached to spindles 23, 25 journalled in bushes 43, 45 and having adjustable stops 31, 33 and slidable in bosses 27, 29 of the platform. The platform may be held up by latches or magnets 51 and may be lowered manually, or by a lead screw arrangement (Fig. 3, not shown) operated manually or by a motor acting through bevel gears. The drum 1 carries two magnetic heads for magnetic sound tracks and is rotatable through 90 degrees to position light gates (75, 77, Fig. 4, not shown), for optical sound tracks, opposite a lens (81) on a lamp housing (78) coupling to the platform and located via a knob (103) for 35 mm. or 16 mm. films. Alternatively, the lamp housing may be manually positioned independently of the platform. |
