An ignition system for an internal-combustion engine comprises a capacitor 1 arranged to be charged by a charging coil 5 located on an iron core 6 and energizable by relative movement of the coil and a magnet system and an electronic switch 7 arranged to discharge the capacitor through the primary winding 8 of a transformer 9, located on a second iron core 13, a secondary winding 10 of which transformer is connected to at least one sparking plug 12. The transformer is arranged to provide a voltage for controlling the electronic switch, the iron cores and the magnet system being arranged to be relatively moved by the engine. The electronic switch 7 may be a thyristor or a correspondingly operating electronic valve. The control voltage for the control electrode G of the electronic switch 7 increases so that the ignition point is automatically adjusted. The secondary circuit may contain several sparking plugs fed by a distributer.</p> |
