1296961 Photorecording apparatus XEROX CORP 2 Jan 1970 [14 Jan 1969 (3)] 240/70 Heading B6W A photorecording apparatus for recording characters serially on a recording surface, e.g. a xerographic drum 2 comprises a light source 50, a rotating opaque shutter 32 with a transparent spiral 36, traversing an exposure zone 80-82 over which also traverses an opaque character disc 26 with at least one set of uniformly spaced transparent characters. The light is fired from an electronic control circuit operating from incoming binary signals under the control of slits 88, 70 on the character disc 26 which although evenly spaced are progressively shifted relative to the characters. This results in even spacing of the recorded character in spite of the difference in time between successive selected characters. The projected character is reflected by a mirror 44 to lenses 46 carried on moving carriages 56 which are driven, at a line spacing angle, transversely across the recording drum. The image is reflected from a mirror 49 on to the drum and as one lens completes its traverse of a line the next is automatically in position for the following line. To prevent distortion the carriages 56 are fitted with rollers 66 engaging guide flanges 68. Copies of the recording are made on sheets fed from a hopper (16, Fig. 1) to a conveyer 12 which carries them into contact with the xerographic drum and to a fuser (22). |
