[Also in Division C5] An aligomerisation catalyst comprises #- cyclopentenyl-#-cyclopentadienylnickel on a sulphided inorganic oxide support. The support may be a molecular sieve, an acid-treated clay, SiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 -MgO, tungsten oxide-Al 2 O 3 , tungsten oxide-SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 , B 2 O 3 -Al 2 O 3 , ZrO 2 -SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 , molybdenum oxide -SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 , TiO 2 -ZrO 2 -SiO 2 which may be sulphide by reaction with S 8 , H 2 S or an organic mercaptan, sulphide, disulphide or thione. The organonickel compound and the support may be contacted in a liquid hydrocarbon and the resulting solid catalyst can be separated for use or used in the hydrocarbon. |
