The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:1083561/C2/1> wherein Ph is an optionally substituted o-phenylene group, A is an alkylidene group and G is an optionally substituted amidino group, acid addition salts thereof, and their preparation by reaction of a compound of formula <FORM:1083561/C2/2> or an acid addition salt thereof with a compound of formula XN = CYZ, or an acid addition salt thereof, wherein Z is an optionally substituted amino group, Y is an etherified mercapto group and X is a hydrogen atom or a substituent, or X and Y together with the carbon-nitrogen double bond form a carbon-nitrogen triple bond. 2,3,4,5 - tetrahydro - 1,4 - benzoxazepine is prepared by reduction of 3,5-dioxo-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1,4-benzoxazepine with lithium aluminium hydride. The compounds of the invention have hypotensive activity and may be used in pharmaceutical or veterinary compositions or in animal fodder in combination with a carrier, for example in forms suitable for oral or parenteral administration. |
