1,092,073. Diapers. RIEGEL TEXTILE CORPORATION. June 18, 1965 [April 1, 1965], No. 25986/65. Heading A3V. [Also in Division D1 In a process for forming folded diapers automatically, a textile web 11 is folded by arms 14, 15 and tapered means 17 to form a central thicker zone (21) (Fig. 6, not shown). The folded web passes round a roller 24 to sewing machines 27, 28 where the folds are stitched and then through feed rollers 36, 37, 40-43 driven by a motor (not shown), which draw the web from the supply roll 10 and through the folding means and pass it to a pneumatically operated guillotine 50. To ensure a clean cut stop means (75), Fig. 8, are associated with the guillotine to interrupt the rotation of feeding rolls 42, 43 when the blade 51 is lowered to make a cut. The individual diapers 95 are received by conveyers 96, 97 and plates 100, 101 which pivot to deposit the diapers singly on a conveyer 117. Further conveyers carry each diaper to a machine 129 which oversews one cut edge and then deposit it on a conveyer 130 for travel back to a machine 135 which oversews the other cut edge. Mechanism for stacking the finished diapers comprises pivotable plates 140 which deposit the diapers on a conveyer 145, each diaper before it falls contacting a switch 150 which when a predetermined number of diapers have contacted it, causes the conveyer 145 to move forwards to receive a fresh stack. |
