[Also in Divisions A5-A6] Novel substituted 1,2,4-oxadiazolidine-3,5- diones having the general formula wherein R is C 1 -C 4 alkyl, n is 1 or 2 and X is a radical of formula (II) wherein R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> each independently denote hydrogen or C 1 -C 4 alkyl, are prepared by reacting either (a) a substituted N-phenyl-N- hydroxyurea with a chlorocarbonic ester or phosgene; or (b) a substituted phenylhydroxylamine with an N-alkyl-N-chloroformyl carbamate. 3 - Dimethylcarbamoyloxynitrobenzene is prepared by reacting 3-nitrophenol with dimethylcarbamyl chloride in the presence of triethylamine in a solvent.</p> |
