A contact-housing passageway in an insulating housing 1 has stops 6, 7 and 29 which prevent, respectively, forward and rearward movement of a socket contact 18, and two projecting arms 26, 27 extending from housing side-walls 4, 5 into the passageway for biasing the contact centrally during its insertion into the housing, each arm including a said stop 29. The stops 6, 7 are formed on an entry guide for a flat contact tab (not shown) and extend across the whole of the front of the housing. The contact 18 comprises a planar base with rolled-over side edges and is crimped to a lead. It may be inserted into the housing in the position shown, or inverted, and is further located by positioning-sections 28 in the side walls 4, 5. Release of the contact is effected by depressing the arms 26, 27 towards the side-walls, and insertion is facilitated by the rear surfaces of arms 26, 27 being rounded at the corners. The arms are movable in planes normal to each other so that terminals of non- symmetrical configuration may be accommodated. The housing may have a plurality of passageways which accommodate a plurality of contacts.</p> |
