1284954 Making electrical contact bolts ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 28 May 1970 [7 June 1969] 25776/70 Heading B3A [Also in Division H1] An electrical contact bolt 1 for high current apparatus has a copper contact plate 11 intimately joined to one end, the plate 11 being pressfitted to the bolt so that it deforms and fills an undercut recess in the bolt. As shown the bolt has a hexagon head 3 in which is formed a cylindrical recess having a conical base 6. An annular groove 7 concentric with the recess is formed by a punch press to deform the recess wall to a frusto-conical form 5. The plate 11, having a conical base recess, is pressed against the head 3, annular grooves 13, 14 being simultaneously pressed into its outer surface to improve the flow of material into the recess and the groove 7. The outer surface of the plate 11 may be domed or flat, and may be knurled. The bolt may be plated with cadmium, copper, zinc, or silver prior to applying the plate 11. |
