Cyclohexanone oxime prepn and sepn by dist- - tillation

Cyclohexanoneoxime is prepared by reacting cyclohexanone and a hydroxy ammonium salt soln in counter current and in the presence of a water immiscible organic solvent for the oxime. A soln of the oxime in the solvent is continuously removed and separated by two stage vacuum distillation. The pressure in the first stage is such that the head product (pure solvent) is condensed by the usual coolant water, and the bottom cut (oxime + 5-30 mole % solvent) is then distilled at a lower pressure without additional heat. Pref. the first column is packed and the second has filter plates.
