Process for moulding synthetic resinous articles with external grooves or impressions in a cavity defined by complementary separable mould elements, by introducing in a radial cavity in the mould wall before moulding a detachable piece having a projection of dimensions equal to than of the groove, moulding it with the synthetic resin, extracting the moulding and then removing the detachable piece. The base of the groove has greater concentricity with the surface than in previous processes, and machining is eliminated. The detachable piece may be brittle so that it may be broken from the moulding, or may be soluble and removed by a suitable solvent. The process is particularly adapted to moulding cylinder liners. |
