Mass-dyed filaments or fibres of linear synthetic polyamides are produced by forming a dye concentrate by uniformly distributing a 2 : 1 chromium complex of an azo dye corresponding to the formula wherein R and R 1 , which may be the same or different, each represents H or NO 2 , and R 2 represents in a minor portion of polyamide, mixing the dye concentrate with a major portion of the same or another polyamide and spinning the mass thus obtained by a melt spinning process. Preferably the concentrate has a dye concentration of 5 to 30% by weight and forms 0À1 to 20% by weight of the total mass to be spun. Mixtures of the chromium complex dyer and mixed complex dyes, obtained by chroming mixtures of the aforementioned azo dyes, may also be used in the process and pigments, delustrants, antiaging agents and viscosity stabilizers, which are not exemplified, may be added.
