摘要 1,224,001. Positive-driving belts. BRITISH ROPES Ltd. 17 July, 1968 [19 July, 1967], No. 33118/67. Heading F2Q. A toothed driving belt, e.g. for a goods lift &c., comprises a flexible strap formed by a plurality of spaced cables 1, of steel wire or helically twisted wires which may be covered with zinc, aluminium, rubber or plastics material, to which are fixed teeth 2a, 2c, made from cast or moulded alloys, rubber or plastics material, and retained on the cables by gripping members in the teeth which crimp the cables. One or more rows of cables 1 may be provided. As shown, the teeth are formed in two frustopyramid parts, the part 2a having a tray formed at its centre and slots 2b through which the cables 1 pass. The teeth are retained axially on the wires by crimping members 4 inserted between the wires in the tray and then tightened together by a bolt (5), Fig. 3a (not shown), in the tooth. The tray may then be filled with a molten elastomeric material, or cold setting polyester resin, and the part 2c pressed on to the lower part. The tooth parts may be pyramidshaped or semi-cylindrical. To connect the ends of cables 1, e.g. to form an endless belt, the cables are passed through holes in a cylinder 6, Fig. 4a (not shown), having rectangular plates (6a) at its ends for reception in recesses in a tooth part 2a. After passing the cables through the holes, the cylinder is rotated to form a belt of desired length, and the plates dropped into the recesses to prevent rotation. The tray of the part 2a is then filled with a solidifiable liquid and the upper part 2e joined thereto.
