[Also in Division C3] The invention comprises compounds of the Formula I and the corresponding lactones of the Formula II where R 1 and R 2 each represent a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl C 1-4 or methoxy radical, R 3 is a hydroxy, alkoxy C 1-4 or optionally substituted amino group. They are prepared by reacting the appropriate benzoin with acrylic acid or an ester or amide thereof or with acrylonitrile. The compounds I and II act as photosensitizers for photopolymerizable compounds.</p> |
