1,221,714. Polymer compositions. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 16 Sept., 1969 [1 Oct., 1968], No. 46530/68. Heading C3P. [Also in Divisions B1-B2] Thermoplastic polymers are rendered antistatic with compositions comprising (1) a compound RN(CH 2 CH 2 O) x H.(CH 2 CH 2 O) y H where R is a C 12-22 aliphatic radical and x + y is 2 to 5, and (2) a glyceride. The polymer may be a polymer of ethylene, propylene, butene, 4-methylpentene- 1, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride and styrene, or a polyester such as polyethylene terephthalate. The polymer compositions may also contain pigments, stabilizers and polyterpenes, and may be in the form of films which may be oriented or corona discharge treated. Examples describe biaxially oriented, discharge treated films made of compositions comprising glyceryl monostearate; polypropylene with and without polyterpene, and ethylene/propylene block and random copolymer; and bis-(hydroxyethyl) tallow amine or bis-(hydroxyethyl) myristyl amine.
|
