<p>High purity isometric metal sulphite monocrystals, opt. doped or activated, suitable for use as phosphors, photoconductive materials, electro-optical materials etc. are produced in satd. solns. contg excess metal sulphide, metal bisulphide complex ions, HS ions and dissolved H2S under hydrothermal conditions (press to 1000 atm. temp. to 750 degrees C, by creating a chemical potential gradient (by acidification, dilution of H+ concn. press. or temp. drop, or oxidation). Relatively large crystal (>25 mu) free of deformations and inner stresses, are obtained- the doping or activation can be carried out simultaneously, and a uniform dispersion of the additives is achieved.</p> |
