Oxidation catalysts are prepared on a basis of cobalt molybdate, eg. for oxidation of acrolein to acrylic acid. These were formerly prepared from mixed oxides of the metals, with Co:Mo no greater than 1:1. Such catalysts may be prepared by precipitation from an aqueous solution mixture of a cobalt salt with molybdic acid, with the addition of a salt of Mn, Cr, Cd, Sn, Sb, U, Al, Th, or Zr. The catalyst is precipitated using a nitrogen base, and is filtered, dried and heat-treated in two stages, first at 350-650 degrees C, and then at 500 - 650 degrees C.
|
