APPARATUS FOR APPLYING CARRYING HANDLES OF PAPER OR PLASTICS MATERIAL TO A WEB

U-shaped carrying handles have been made from elongated strips of paper or plastics material in that both end portions have been folded through 90 DEG . The handles are applied to a web intended to make carrying handles in such a manner that the end portions of the strip lead in the direction of travel of the web. The strip is first gripped in known manner in its intermediate portion. The strip end portions are folded through 90 DEG opposite to the direction of travel of the strip. The resulting legs of the carrying handle are gripped at their end portions and advanced further. The intermediate portion is released. The carrying handles are turned over through 180 DEG opposite to the direction of travel of the gripped ends and with their now leading legs are connected to the web extending in the same direction.
