1304137 Injectable solutions of pyritinol salts MERCK PATENT GmbH 22 Sept 1971 [26 Sept 1970] 44213/71 Heading A5B Sterile injectable aqueous solutions comprise a physiologically acceptable salt of pyritinol (bis - (3 - hydroxy-4-hydroxymethyl-2-methylpyridyl-(5) methyl)-disulphide) from 0.1 to 25% by weight of one or more physiologically acceptable C 1-6 organic acids and from 0.1 to 25% by weight of one or more physiologically acceptable amines or physiologically acceptable salts thereof such as diethanolamine, and N- heterocyclic compounds e.g. vitamin B 1 , vitamin B 6 , 1-benzyl-3-ethyl-6, 7-dimethoxy-isoquinoline, pyridoxal and the hydrochloride salts thereof, and nicotineamide. The organic acid may be formic, malonic, adipic, lactic, tartaric, citric, glutamic or ascorbic acid. Suitable pyritinol salts are pyrithioxine (pyritinol dihydrochloride monohydrate) and pyritinol hydrobromide sulphate, nitrate, phosphate, methane or ethane sulphonate. The solution may contain a preservative and/or sodium or potassium hydroxide such that the pH of the solution is from 2.1 to 3.0. |
