1328607 1 - (5 - Nitrothiazol - 2 - yl)- imidazolidin-2-throne RHONE-POULENC SA 21 March 1972 [23 March 1971] 13232/72 Heading C2C 1 - (5 - Nitrothiazol - 2 - yl) - imidazolidin - 2- thione is prepared by hydrogenolysis of a compound of general Formula II in which R is C 1-6 alkyl or benzyl with sodium hydrogen sulphide. The reaction is carried out in an organic solvent at a temperature between 0‹ and 50‹ C. and the sodium hydrogen sulphide is prepared in situ by the action of hydrogen sulphide on sodium methoxide. Compounds of Formula II are novel and are prepared by reaction of an imidazoline of general Formula III with a 5-nitrothiazole derivative of Formula IV in which X is an acid residue of a reactive ester such as a halogen atom. 1 - (5 - Nitrothiazol - 2 - yl) - imidazolidin - 2- thione may be used as an anti-bilharzia, antitrichomonas, anti-amoebid, anthelmintic, antigiardiasis, anti-cocidial or anti-microbial agent and forms with a suitable carrier, a pharmaceutical composition which may be administered orally. |
