1430220 Blasting TILGHMAN WHEELABRATOR Ltd 25 Sept 1974 [14 Dec 1973] 58139/73 Heading B3D A wheel for throwing abrasive comprises two side plates 11 between which are located a plurality of radial or substantially radial blades 14, and a hub 18 concentrically attached to the outside of one of the side plates, the hub being secured to the side plate by hollow set screws 20 through which extend bolts 21 securing the hub to the blades. The side plates are spaced and connected to spacers 12 and have radially extending grooves 13 into which are slid the blades 14, the length of the blades determining the size of the wheel. The blades have their leading faces convexly curved in the direction of wheel rotation and are formed with flange edges 16, each flanged being formed with a notch 17, the notches being aligned with holes 15 in one of the plates adjacent each blade location. A hub 18 is disposed adjacent the said one plate and secured thereto by hollow screws which extend into the holes 15, the hollow screws also being internally threaded to receive the screws 21 which extend into the notches 17 in the blades. A stationary control cage 22 has a flared opening 23 for receiving an impeller 24 having vanes 28, a collar 26 of the impeller receiving the feed end of a spout 31. The wheel assembly is mounted within a shroud 29 having wear plates 30. |
