Control capacitor on circuit breaker quenching chamber - has capacitive elements of annular shape centrally mounted w.r.t. main current path

The very high voltage circuit breaker has a control capacitor on one arc extinguishing chamber which contains in its cladding a main current path. The control capacitor in connected in parallel to the switching-off contacts of the extinguishing chamber and consists of several series-connected plate-shaped capacity elements. Each element has two electrodes and a suitable dielectric whose constant exceeds 100. The capacity elements (1) are of annular shape and each is mounted concentrically about the main current path (15) inside the insulating jacket (10). Preferably, the insulating jacket forms the quenching chamber (9) cladding, and the capacity elements are mounted axis-symmetrically relative to the midline (8) of the distance between switching contacts (6, 7).
