The gear coupling, operated by an axially sliding sleeve (68) has a synchronizing rings (15) are located on either side of the operating sleeve. Their axial gear teeth are in mesh with either one of the neighbouring gear wheels when the coupling is engaged. The rings (15) have internal tapers which are inclined towards the central operating sleeve (74). The secondary synchronizing rings (18) have matching external tapers to produce friction drive between the two rings. In this way synchronization between shaft (1) and either of the two gear wheels is obtained.
|
