Lateral stabiliser for magnetic tracked vehicle - uses permanent magnets inducing eddy current s in guide flanges to centralise vehicle

The tracked vehicle (1) is supported above the track using an array of permanent magnets (3) fitted to the underside of the vehicle and interacting with magnets in the track. The propulsion is by linear induction or other means. For added lateral stability the track has vertical flanges (4) of conductor strips positioned near the permanent magnets. As the vehicle moves the permanent magnets induce eddy currents in the flanges, and the resultant magnetic fields provide the lateral stability. The stabilising force increases with speed and is completely frictionless.
