Explosion wire spray coating of aluminium based surfaces - for coating cylinders for internal combustion engine

An Al based sliding surface is explosion wire spray coated with a bonding layer of Mo, W or Mo-W and then with several alternate layers of C steel and Mo, Mo-W, Cr, Ni-Cr or Ti. The coated product is then ground. Used for coating the internal surface of Al based cylinders for i.c. engines. Coated surfaces with good wear resistance, peel resisance and uniform quality are inexpensively mass produced without an effluent causing pollution problems.
