PURPOSE: To hold a constant voltage potential on a photoconductive member of the electrophotographic printing device. CONSTITUTION: The device includes an electrostatic charging device 28, a voltage monitor 38, and a controller 26 and also utilizes them. The electrostatic charging device 28 generates a voltage potential on the photoconductive member 12 of the electrophotographic printing device. The voltage monitor 38 measures the voltage on the photoconductive member 12 and generates a voltage measurement signal. The controller 26 stores a target voltage value in response to the voltage measurement signal and calculates the difference between the voltage measurement signal and target voltage value to find a voltage error for a precedent print job. The controller 26 calculates a predictive control signal for a corresponding cycle of a following print job as a function of the voltage error and adjusts the electrostatic charging device for the corresponding cycle of the following print job as a function of the predictive control signal. |
