NEW MATERIAL:A glycine derivative shown by the formulaII (each R is H, halogen, hydroxyl, lower alkoxy, or methyl respectively, except that all R is H and R<3> is hydroxyl and others are H) USE:Useful as a preparing intermediate for a semisynthetic penicillin and a semisynthetic cepaylosporin PROCESS:A DL-, D-, or L-5-(substituted phenyl) hydantoin shown by the formula I (each R is the same as that mentioned earlier) is treated with a culture, cell, or treated cell of a microorganism, belonging to the genus Ackromobactor, Actinomyces, Aspergillus, Candida, etc., capable of phydrolyzing a hydantoin ring causing cleavage. |
