PURPOSE:To suppress the shortcircuiting current to a low value by detecting the commutation failure at the time point of low current value at which the shortcircuiting current starts increasing due to the commutation failure. CONSTITUTION:A reactor 16 is connected between the negative voltage terminal of a DC power source and the negative voltage input terminal of an inverter 2. The mutual connection point between the reactor 16 and the negative voltage input terminal of the inverter 2 is connected to the gate of a power source shortcircuiting thyristor 15 through a firing circuit 17. The thyristor 15 is conducted by the induced voltage of the reactor 16 when the inverter 2 fails in commutation through the firing circuit 17. |
