PURPOSE:To prepare a ferrite type stainless steel thin plate free from a surface flaw and low in ridging, by a method wherein a ferrite type stainless steel cast piece is reheated to a high temp. after hot rolling to be subjected to finish rolling and the resulting rolled cast piece is directly subjected to cold rolling by using large diameter rolls. CONSTITUTION:After a ferrite type stainless steel cast piece comprising 0.03- 0.07% C, 0.08-0.5% Al, 15-19% Cr and the remainder Fe and inevitable impurities is rolled at 1,000-1,200 deg.C under a draft of at least 20%, the rolled cast piece is reheated to 1,200-1,300 deg.C and rolled at a fine temp. of 850 deg.C or above by a rolling machine consisting of a roughing machine and a continuous finish rolling machine to obtain a hot rolled plate free from generation of surface flaw and having a large amount of alpha'-phase finely dispersed therein. Subsequently, the hot rolled plate is subject to cold rolling by a rolling machine having work rolls each having a diameter of 150 deg.C or more without performing annealing to obtain a ferrite type stainless steel thin plate excellent in processability in the simplified manufacturing process. |
