PURPOSE: To obtain non-polarized optical transmission system capable of 2-way communication. CONSTITUTION: This system is made up of 1st and 2nd mixing circuits H1, H2, having two single direction connecting points and one two-way connecting point respectively. A single direction connecting point is connected to a transmitter T and a receiver R, via system connecting points S1-S4. The 2-way connecting point of the mixing circuit H1 is connected to a signal route ST via a high-degree retarder HR, and a 2-way contact point of the mixing circuit H2 is directly connected to the signal route ST.
