<p>A liquid crystal display in which the cell has a uniform thickness of the order of 1 νm. The uniform thickness of the cell is controlled by means of an array of pillars (14) located between the electrodes on the glass back plate (10). The pillars comprise a material (e.g., polyimide) which adheres to both plates, thus reducing the tendency of the plates to bow.</p> |
