PURPOSE:To obtain the long sized shape steel having high strength by splitting the plate thickness of a metallic strip by a wedge shaped tool upto the midway from one side of the width direction to the other side and by forming the both leg parts so as to become symmetrical together with rounding the bottom of the split groove after forming two leg parts. CONSTITUTION:A metallic plate 1 is cleaved the cleaving roller 21 fixed by a driving shaft 22. The groove part 20 of the strip 1A which cleaved upto the prescribed depth by performing the cleaving with using of the cleaving roller 21 one or several times is rounded by a groove forming roller 31. This strip 31 is formed by forming rollers 41, 43, 45 to the shape steel 10 of T shape, I shape, etc. The shape steel formed as the above is especially suitable for the guide rail of elevator due to the strength and reliability being enabled to be increased.
