PURPOSE:To accurately grasp a fault location of a relay transmission line by monitoring all of CATV relay transmission lines at a center so as to detect a fault at each terminal equipment quickly. CONSTITUTION:A polling address is designated respectively to terminal equipments. When the designation is in matching with the designation of polling selecting from a CPU in a monitor unit 103, an item relating to monitor and control is processed and the information is sent in terms of an incoming in-band signal as required. The information is inputted from branch terminal equipments 161, 162, 163, 164 and coupled by a 4-distribution unit 108 and the result is inputted to a unit 103 and an incoming trunk line amplifier unit 105 via a 2-way filter 107. The monitor control information is latched by a memory of the said CPU. Furthermore, an input signal from the unit 105 is sent from an input terminal 151 to the center via a 2-way filter 101. When the address of the polling from the center is in matching with the designation of the polling address of the unit 103, all sets of information are sent to the center, in which the information is monitored and controlled.
