摘要 PURPOSE:To form an electrostatic latent image on the surface of a dielectric body, by arranging a bias electrode and a photoconductor on both sides of the ion supply passage reaching the surface of the dielectric body from an ion generating source in opposed relationship and optically controlling the presence of the charge accumulation on the surface of the photoconductor on the basis of an image signal. CONSTITUTION:The positive ion from a corona discharge device 3 passes between a bias electrode 7 and a photoconductor 9 to go toward a dielectric body 1. When positive voltage is applied to the electrode 7 from a power cource 8, an electric field of positive polarity going to the photoconductor 9 from the electrode 7 is generated. At this time, the photoconductor is positiviely charged in such a state that no light is irradiated from an optical fiber 10 and said electric field is weakened instaneously and subsequent discharged ions reach the dielectric body 1. When light is projected from the optical fiber 10, the positive charge of the photoconductor 9 is leaked through a transparent electrode 11 and the electric field going to the photoconductor 9 from the electrode 7 becomes large and a discharged positive ion is caught by the electric field and does not reach the surface of the dielectric body 1. Therefore, the incident light from each of the optical fibers 10 arranged in a lateral direction parallelly is subjected to ON/OFF with respect to an image part and the dielectric body 1 is moved in one direction to obtain a negative electrostatic latent image.
