PURPOSE:To completely absorb an electrolyte leaked from safety vents and to prevent the simple movement of an electrolyte absorbing mat by positioning the electrolyte absorbing mat, whose facing sides are formed like the teeth of a comb and which is formed in the form of an inverted box, so as to wrap a plurality of safety vents of unit storage batteries. CONSTITUTION:A battery consists of a plurality of unit storage batteries 3, an electrolyte absorbing mat 9, which is formed in the form of an inverted box and whose facing sides are formed like the teeth of a comb, and which is positioned so as to step over the safety vents of unit batteries 3, and an outer case 2 comprising two rigid cases 1a, 1b in which the unit batteries 3 are accommodated under pressure. Since the electrolyte absorbing mat 9 is positioned so as to wrap the safety vents of unit batteries 3, even if an electrolyte leaks together with gas exhausted from the vents, the electrolyte is completely absorbed in the mat 3 to prevent leaking from the battery. The teeth of a comb of the mat 3 are inserted into outer sealing parts 5 adjacent to the safety vent 7 and the simple movement of the mat 3 is prevented. |
