The invention relates to a new and very simple method for rangefinding. This object is achieved by using a directed radiation source (1) and two detectors (2, 3) whose sensitivities decrease uniformly when they are rotated away from the maximum sensitivity direction, the maximum sensitivities of the two detectors pointing in different directions, the detectors (2, 3) measuring the diffusely reflected radiation, emerging from the radiation source, of an object being measured, the ratio between the powers of the two detectors being used as a measure of the range (r) between the object (4) and the normal to the surface for maximum radiation of the radiation source surrounding the detectors, and the detectors (2, 3) being arranged closely side-by-side at a range (a) from the maximum radiation of the radiation source (1). <IMAGE> |
