PURPOSE:To easily insert a character into a required position with hand writing by determining the inserting position of a character group based upon positional relation between an already inputted character group and a written insertion code, or language relation to the inserted character group. CONSTITUTION:An already inputted character group is stored in a document memory 2a, and when an edition code recognizing device 5 recognizes an edition code (insertion code) expressing character insertion based upon handwriting coordinate data inputted from a tablet 1, a document editing device 2 sends the hand-writing coordinate data of the insertion code to a character inserting position determining means 3, which determines a character inserting position. Namely the device 3 allows a language processor 4 to calculate a language evaluation point for a character string obtained by combining the already inputted character string and an inserted character obtained by inserting a character into an inserting position candidate, finds out the combination with the highest evaluation point and determines the inserting position candidate corresponding to the inputted character string as a character inserting position. |
