A connection device for belts or straps is described, which has a first connection part (10) and a second connection part (12). The first connection part (10) is formed with a belt attachment section (14) and with two flaps (16, 18) which are spaced apart and define a gap (20). At least one flap (16, 18) is formed with an engagement cut- out (24). The second connection part (12) has a belt attachment section (30) and an engagement element (36) which can be inserted in the gap (20) of the first connection part (10) and engaged in the engagement cutout (24). The engagement element (36) has a resilient tongue which rests against the engagement cutout (24) along at least one engagement section (26) and is connected to a frame element (32), projecting from the belt attachment section (30), along a connection section (38). Starting from the connection section (38), the resilient tongue (36) projects beyond the plane of the frame element (32), the connection section (38) being provided between the frame element (32) and the resilient tongue (36) on the side of the second connection part (12) remote from the belt attachment section (30). <IMAGE>
