<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate exchange of an intermediate transfer belt or the like even when a plurality of image forming units are separately disposed to a plurality of surfaces formed around the intermediate transfer belt. <P>SOLUTION: The intermediate transfer belt 20 is turnably stretched, laid and supported on a driving roll 21, a driven roll 22 and a backup roll 23. A first peripheral surface 20a, a second peripheral surface 20b and a third peripheral surface 20c are formed around the intermediate transfer belt 20. Process cartridges for yellow, magenta, cyan and black 17Y, 17M, 17C and 17K are arranged to be opposed to the first peripheral surface 20a, and a process cartridge for a special color 17S is arranged to be opposed to the second peripheral surface 20b. A first retract mechanism and a second retract mechanism act interlocked with the operation of an operation bar so as to bring the intermediate transfer belt 20 into contact with the process cartridges for yellow, magenta, cyan and black 17Y, 17M, 17C and 17K and the process cartridge for a special color 17S, and separate it therefrom. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
