<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overcap which prevents a knob portion for removing a pilfer-proof band from protruding to the outside more than the cylindrical section of the cap body, and also, can prevent the knob portion from being deformed or damaged even when hand touches the knob portion from the upper side, or an article hits the knob portion. <P>SOLUTION: This overcap 1 for can is equipped with the cap body 8, the pilfer-proof band 10, and the knob portion 11. In this case, the cap body 8 is equipped with a top surface section and a cylindrical portion, and can be fitted and attached to the top part of a can. The pilfer-proof band 10 is connected with the lower end edge of the cylindrical section 8b through a tearing portion 9. The knob portion 11 is provided while one end of the knob portion is connected with the pilfer-proof band. In the overcap 1, the knob portion is formed in a manner to be located on the same plane as the outermost peripheral surface of the cylindrical section of the cap body or on a more internal side than the outermost peripheral surface. At the same time, at least a region of the upper end edge of the knob portion is connected with the cylindrical portion 8b through breakable connecting portions 17 and 18.
