PURPOSE:To improve the workability and productivity of the sensor and to contrive the stabilization of characteristics and the improvement in reliability over a long period of time by fixing the oxygen concn. detecting element to a pedestal via holding wires held in through-holes provided on a heat resistant base plate. CONSTITUTION:The oxygen concn. detecting element of the oxygen sensor is disposed with a spiral type spacer 5 which encloses an electrode film 2 and has the beginning end and terminal end having a spacing from each other on one surface of a solid electrolyte plate 1 having an oxygen ion conductivity and is further disposed with a sealing plate 6. A diffusion hole 7 is formed of the spiral space enclosed by the opposite partition walls of the spiral spacer 5, the solid electrolyte plate 1 and the sealing plate 6 and the oxygen diffuses through the space to the electrode film 2. On the other hand, the spiral spacer 5 consists of a projecting body 5a made of a mixture compose of glass and heat resistant fine particles having a prescribed grain size and is tightly adhered and fixed with the solid electrolyte plate 1 and the sealing plate 6 by heating and melting via a film body 5b consisting of glass. On the other hand, two pieces of the through-holes 12 are provided in the heat resistant base plate 9 and the oxygen concn. detecting element is fixed to the pedestal 14 via the holding wires 13 held in the through-holes 12. |
