With a view to reducing heating of the interior 4 of the vehicle when it is parked in sunny weather, the interior is ventilated during the parking. To this end, air inlets 12 are disposed in the space between the doors 8 of the vehicle and its openings, which air inlets draw in relatively cold air. The drawn-in air is conducted past the window 17 of the vehicle and is ventilated out through a sun roof 5 in the roof 3 of the vehicle. Sensors 19,22 are arranged to detect that the vehicle is parked, that the sun is shining with a certain intensity and that the interior temperature amounts to a certain temperature.
