A walker brace for temporary tightening from a close fit position during the support surface contact phase of gait when the patient's weight is applied to the sole to stabilize the leg, ankle and foot from undesirable movement. A leg support assembly of the brace has multiple straps connected to an arm for nesting the leg. A foot support assembly has multiple straps connected to a foot support shell for nesting the foot. An arm is connected to the foot support shell and articulates relative to the arm at a controlled motion ankle hinge. A leg strap tightening mechanism includes a tightening rod and a cable for progressive and differential tightening of the straps to stabilize the leg. A foot strap tightening mechanism includes a buckle loop and a cable for tightening of the instep strap to stabilize the foot. The cables pass through foot support shell and a rocker bottom sole shell pivoted at the foot support shell. A relative shortening of the cables occurs when the rocker bottom sole shell is pivoted upwardly relative to the foot support shell during the period of time that the patient's weight is applied to the sole.
