The disclosure relates to a floor covering which is composed from a number of tiles (1) which at least restrictedly displaceably rest on a substrate. The tiles are mutually interconnected by connecting devices (4, 6). Gaps are provided between adjacent tiles (1), the gaps being closable against spring force. Each tile (1) has an upper tread surface (3) which, along its periphery, has a downwardly directed edge portion (2) which rests on the substrate.
