<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an uninterruptible power supply in which transient characteristics of an output voltage can be enhanced upon power interruption. <P>SOLUTION: When a rectifier circuit converts an AC current into a DC current and an inverter circuit inverts the DC current into an AC current, a battery is connected with the DC output passage of the rectifier circuit. When a chopper circuit controls the charge/discharge power of the battery, a charging current command value generating circuit outputs such a charging current command value as limiting a charging voltage command value for the battery to a specified level if it is higher than an actual charging voltage and limiting others to zero, a discharging current command value generating circuit outputs such a discharging current command value as limiting a DC voltage command value on the input side of the inverter circuit to a specified magnitude if it is higher than an actual DC voltage and limiting others to zero, and an adding means outputs a charge/discharge current command value by adding the charging current command value and the discharging current command value.
